Your garden, from a bird’s-eye view.

The Birdfy Feeder 2 Pro pairs a seed feeder with wide-angle video, a tracking portrait camera and phone alerts—turning ordinary garden visits into clips you can keep and share.

The Renvaryn take

A camera that makes birdwatching come to you.

The clever part is not simply putting a camera in a feeder. Birdfy separates the scene into wide video and close portrait capture, then packages visits as phone notifications and clips. That gives it a stronger reason to exist than a conventional feeder—but the value depends heavily on garden Wi-Fi, regular cleaning and whether you are comfortable with cloud storage and optional AI pricing.

Who it is for

Best for people who enjoy garden wildlife but cannot watch the feeder all day.

01

Garden birdwatchers

See which birds visit between glances out of the window, with alerts and recorded clips available in the app.

02

Thoughtful gift buyers

A distinctive present for parents, grandparents or nature lovers—once you confirm they have suitable Wi-Fi and a mounting location.

03

Families and sharers

Close-up bird footage creates a natural reason to learn species, save favourites and share short clips.

How it works

Mount it, connect it, then let the visitors do the filming.

  1. 1
    Choose the position

Mount the feeder somewhere stable, reachable for refilling and within a reliable 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal.

  2. 2
    Pair the app

Charge the camera, add the device in the Birdfy app and connect it to the garden network.

  3. 3
    Fill and maintain

Add appropriate seed, keep the feeding surfaces hygienic and check the solar-panel position.

  4. 4
    Review each visit

Motion triggers wide video and portrait capture; alerts and saved clips appear in the app.

The decision

Choose it if…

  • You already enjoy feeding or identifying garden birds.
  • Your chosen location has dependable 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
  • You want automatic clips rather than another camera to monitor manually.
  • You are comfortable managing an app and cloud-based recordings.

Look elsewhere if…

  • You need fully local recording to a microSD card.
  • Your feeder location is beyond reliable home Wi-Fi coverage.
  • You want a low-maintenance feeder with no charging, app or account.
  • You are unwilling to compare the AI subscription and lifetime-service options.
What matters in practice

The headline features need context.

AI options

The package changes the long-term cost.

Birdfy sells versions with subscription-based or lifetime AI recognition. The free app still covers live view, alerts and recorded clips, but identify exactly which AI package is in the basket.

Storage

Cloud first; not microSD playback.

Birdfy states that clips receive free cloud storage with 30-day retention. The visible microSD slot is for production testing and does not provide consumer recording or playback.

Connectivity

The garden must stay inside Wi-Fi range.

The feeder connects on 2.4GHz only. Before buying, test a phone at the intended position and remember that exterior walls can weaken the signal.

Upkeep

Smart still means cleaning and refilling.

A camera does not remove the ordinary responsibilities of a feeder. Seed condition, hygiene, mounting stability and unwanted visitors still need attention.

Quick comparison

Where it fits.

The Feeder 2 Pro adds automatic portrait capture and species tools, but it is more expensive and more dependent on software than simpler alternatives.

Before you buy

Four checks that prevent the wrong purchase.

01

Test the signal

Confirm stable 2.4GHz Wi-Fi where the feeder will be mounted—not just beside the back door.

02

Compare AI packages

The standard and lifetime-recognition versions have different prices and ongoing implications.

03

Plan the mount

Check stability, refill access, sunlight for the panel and distance from likely squirrel launch points.

04

Confirm the live total

Price, package, delivery and returns can change; verify them on Birdfy before purchasing.
