UGREEN 90409 travel charger: will it cover your laptop and phone?
Check UGREEN 90409's shared 65W limit, laptop and cable requirements, UK/EU/US heads and the current cost of a usable travel charging kit.

UGREEN 90409 is a useful way to replace several charging bricks when your laptop accepts USB-C charging and its needs fit within 65W. Its two USB-C ports, one USB-A port and included UK, EU and US heads make it attractive for a laptop-and-phone trip. The question to settle before buying is whether those devices can share its power comfortably.
The 65W figure is the charger's total budget. It is not 65W for the laptop with another unrestricted supply left over for your phone. If your laptop regularly needs all of that power, plan to charge devices at different times or retain its original charger. [1]
Research disclosure: We have not tested charging speed, sustained output, temperature or plug retention. This guide uses UGREEN's exact-SKU documentation and UK offers. Ad · Affiliate links are included below; Renvaryn may earn a commission from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you.
Start with your laptop's input, not its brand
Find the charging specification for your exact laptop. A USB-C-shaped socket alone does not establish that it accepts charging. Check the supported charging standard and required power; use the laptop maker's guidance rather than a broad brand list.
A laptop supplied with a higher-wattage brick might accept a lower-power USB-C supply, but the effect depends on that model and workload. We have not verified that behaviour for yours. If maintaining performance while working is essential, confirm the permitted input before leaving the original supply at home.
| Device or combination | Port and cable to plan | Charging expectation |
|---|---|---|
| Compatible laptop on its own | USB-C charging port; suitable USB-C to USB-C cable rated 5A for the full 65W use case | Maker advertises up to 65W single-USB-C output; the laptop must accept the available charging mode. |
| Phone or tablet on its own | USB-C with its supported cable, or USB-A where the device supports it | Connector and charging-protocol compatibility matter. No particular device's maximum speed is promised. |
| Laptop and phone together | Separate appropriate cables in two ports | Use the lower USB-C port for the laptop; the maker shows up to 45W there when both USB-C ports are used, with up to 20W on the middle USB-C port. |
| Laptop, phone and a third USB device | Two USB-C connections and one USB-A connection, each with a suitable cable | Maker diagram: lower USB-C up to 45W, with the other USB-C and USB-A sharing 17W. Check whether your devices can use that allocation. |
| Camera battery charger or another small USB accessory | Its maker-approved USB input and cable | Check the accessory's requirements; physical fit alone does not verify support. |
| Hairdryer, kettle or another mains appliance | None | This unit has no mains output socket for another appliance. |
The maker’s port-sharing diagram
UGREEN’s 90409 product-page diagram, inspected on 19 October, supplies the following stated allocations. These are manufacturer limits, not readings from our own equipment. Ports below are described by their position in that diagram: USB-A at the top, then middle and lower USB-C. Match the diagram to the supplied instructions before connecting. [5]
| Connections in use | Lower USB-C | Middle USB-C | Top USB-A |
|---|---|---|---|
| One USB-C only | Up to 65W if used | Up to 65W if used | Unused |
| USB-A only | Unused | Unused | Up to 22.5W |
| Both USB-C | Up to 45W | Up to 20W | Unused |
| Lower USB-C + USB-A | PD 45W | Unused | QC/FCP 18W |
| Middle USB-C + USB-A | Unused | 8.5W | 8.5W |
| All three | 45W | Shares 17W with USB-A | Shares 17W with middle USB-C |
The last row is 17W shared, not 17W for each of those two ports. The diagram also marks an Apple Watch limitation in the middle-USB-C/USB-A and three-port combinations; it does not establish compatibility with every watch charging puck. Check your specific accessory rather than relying on the socket alone. Device negotiation and cable capability still determine actual power. [5]
The practical implication is clear: a laptop that needs a full 65W supply will not retain that allocation while the phone uses a second port. Charge the laptop alone first if that fits your trip, or keep a separate supply when simultaneous full-power charging matters. UGREEN lists USB-C PD and PPS, but we have not measured charging times, reconnect interruptions or sustained output. [1, 5]
The cable is part of the purchase
UGREEN's box list for SKU 90409 includes the charger, UK/EU/US heads and quick-start guide, not a USB cable. Count the cables you need for simultaneous charging rather than assuming one is supplied. [1]
For the full 65W laptop use case, use a compatible 5A electronically marked USB-C cable. A cable sold simply as “USB-C” is not enough information. The manufacturer's 100W 5A braided cable is one priced example; its larger rating does not make this charger deliver 100W. [2]
The current UK kit arithmetic
Prices checked 19 October; no voucher or unverified promotion is included.
| What you already own | Extra purchase | Displayed item subtotal |
|---|---|---|
| All suitable device cables | 90409 charger | £29.99 |
| Phone cable, but no suitable laptop cable | Charger + one 3.2ft/1-pack 100W 5A cable, SKU 70427, at £7.57 | £37.56 |
| No cables for either laptop or phone | The same £37.56 combination + a suitable phone cable | £37.56 plus the phone-cable cost |
The charger and one suitable laptop cable therefore total £37.56 at these displayed prices. The separately displayed regular prices, £39.99 and £8.99, total £48.98; neither set of prices is a guarantee for a later order. UGREEN advertises free standard UK shipping above £20. Confirm destination, taxes and the final checkout total, particularly if ordering items separately. [1–3]
If you already have a correctly rated cable, there is no reason to buy another solely because it appears beside the charger. If you need to charge two devices at once, one new cable is not a complete two-device kit unless you already own the other.
What the travel heads actually do
The included heads provide the stated UK, EU and US plug formats. UGREEN lists mains input of 100–240V, 50/60Hz for the charger. That is the input range of this USB power supply; it does not make it a voltage converter for another appliance. Nor does “EU/US/UK” guarantee fit in every socket worldwide. Check the actual destination and accommodation sockets. [1]
Fit the correct head with the charger disconnected, following its supplied quick-start instructions. We have not verified clearance in every recessed or crowded socket. Keep the instructions with your travel kit rather than treating a product photograph as a fitting procedure.
Buy it for a simpler bag
The case for 90409 is strongest when one compact USB supply covers devices you have already checked, and the three heads match where you travel. The case is weaker for a phone-only trip, or a laptop whose working load needs a more powerful supply.
Before ordering, confirm four things: the exact laptop accepts the supply, your laptop cable is suitably rated, you have enough cables, and the destination head fits. Then check the current price and UGREEN's UK return terms. Its policy offers a 30-day request window subject to conditions; non-defect return costs and non-refundable charges still matter. [4]
That is how this charger can earn its place: fewer bricks in the bag, with a power plan you understand before departure.
